Aspire is now a corporate member of Volunteering WA. As Western Australia’s peak body for volunteering, Volunteering WA work to support the corporate sector with community awareness and involvement, employee volunteering activities and social investment programs.
Recently the team at Aspire volunteered at Meerinlinga’s Kingsley Community Centre. The following story was in Volunteering WA’s newsletter.
12 volunteers from Aspire PT were very busy bee’s at Meerilinga’s Kinsley community centre. The morning was spent with teams working outside and inside. Outside jobs included a garden makeover with lots of pruning, weeding and planting, the instillation of a raised vegetable bed, the creation of a sandpit cover and a sparkle up of some blackboards. Inside around 80 keys were tried in lots and lots of locks so that their true purpose could be identified!
After lunch, morning jobs were completed and around 100msq of windows were washed and cleaned. Each volunteer also had the opportunity help children attending the centre to plant vegies in the new raised bed. At the end of the day all of the volunteers received thank you certificates, Kath Owen from Meerilinga said,
“We cannot thank Aspire enough for the difference that they made for the children & families”.
