On Thursday 26th February, Judy attended the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (“ACPET”) seminar on WA Training for Employment at the Rydges Hotel. Dr. Ruth Shean, Director General from the Dept of Training and Workforce Development presented preliminary data from 2014 on how the Future Skills model has impacted training uptake and confirmed that qualifications eligible for PIT funding will be increased from 100 to 155 later this year. Representatives from the Commonwealth Government presented an overview of the Industry Skills Fund and discussed the upcoming changes to the role and responsibilities of Australian Apprenticeship Centres (AACs) to Australian Apprentice Support Networks from 1st July 2015. Topics raised during the panel discussion included pre-employment training for job-seekers and the effects of the changes to Commonwealth incentive scheme. It was an informative afternoon and a good opportunity to catch up with and meet new colleagues in the Industry.
